Ways to improve your smile

One of the most noticeable features exhibited by humans is their smile. One may undermine its value and influence in communication but the truth is, at times, a simple, warm, gentle smile can convey emotions and build relations without uttering a single word and sometimes leave long lasting impressions. If a stranger smiles at you while walking down a street, the instant reaction would be to smile back and you'll be left with a feeling of warmth. During job interviews or meetings, a bright smile exudes confidence and hence supports communication process leaving a positive and intended effect. In short, a bright smile conveys positive attitude, belief, self confidence and acts as a non-verbal cue for 'you are welcome' i.e. it makes people feel invited.

However, not all of us are gifted with a smile to die for. The reasons may vary-teeth, jaw structure, lips or other dental problems. The resulting effect of these conditions may leave you with uneasiness towards laughing or smiling openly. This might reflect as a negative personality trait and may cause others to feel 'unwelcome'. Some of you will also be longing for a beautiful smile like a certain personality or a celebrity. If you are suffering from any of the afore-mentioned disorders, the answer is smile designing. It refers to the different techniques used in improving the smile of an individual. These not only drastically alter the way you smile but also work towards getting rid of dental problems. One of the common reasons for people to shy away from smiling is the way their teeth look. Misalignment, stained, broken, missing etc. the causes varies. Treatments involving wearing braces, aligners, bonding, whitening, implants etc. can be used to correct the deformities.

A visit to a dental clinic will help in ascertaining the real cause behind the dental problem. It is better to consult the dentist properly after analyzing the pros and cons involved before opting for any of the dental treatment. Smile designing is a process that may stretch for significant period of time and even after a treatment has been completed, for final touches, appliances like tooth positioned might be required to be worn.

How clear braces are better than metal ones

It is common for individuals, especially grownups and professionals to be self aware. This means that they make sure they are doing everything right; from looking good that involves dressing, facial expression, hairstyle etc. to mannerisms and social etiquettes. These are important as their proper exhibition has a direct bearing on their social and professional lives. So, it is not uncommon among professionals to opt for treatments aimed at improving or correcting certain physical attributes like smile, teeth, hairstyle, skin ailments and more. One of the most visible features of any individual's personality happens to be smile and consequently teeth. Not everyone is lucky to born with perfect set of teeth with a perfect symmetry that makes them look good and it also affect the oral health as well.

To correct teeth that are crowded, gapped, misaligned etc. a visit to a dentist will reveal wearing metal braces for a certain period of time and thus pushing the teeth in their ideal positions. But herein lays the catch. The clunky look that the metal braces have, make adults a little uncomfortable with them. Apart from their appearances, there are certain restrictions that these braces cause in the lifestyle till the time one is wearing them. A clear solution to them is the new breed of braces known as Invisible braces and clear braces. As their name suggests, these are less noticeable than the traditional metal braces. As a result, a person cannot notice whether the individual he/she is speaking to is wearing any braces at all.

These clear braces work on the same principle as the metal ones and are equally as effective. However, they are less brittle than the traditional ones and are to be cared more. Hence, one has to avoid eating certain kinds of food that might have an effect on them. Also, there is always a danger of staining them. If one can deal with these restrictions, then these are clearly the most suitable option over old metal ones. If looking for something even better, a more suitable option would be aligners that make the use of braces and all the above mentioned restrictions redundant. These are much more comfortable and user friendly as compared to any type of braces.

Do not guard your smile, express it freely and make friends wearing clear braces

It is advisable to guard your most precious of possessions from the wandering eyes of the people. The reason is the dreadful thought of losing them at the hands of some unscrupulous elements of the society. This argument is more suitable for materialistic possessions but what about those that dictate your physical appearance, e.g. beautiful eyes, nose, facial structure, teeth etc. Would you want to hide them from the world when it can have the potential of radiating unintended impressions? Certainly not. Smile is one such worthy element that one should exhibit in abundance as it spreads positive attitude and has the potential to bring warmth to a gloomy environment. It breaks ice and acts as a conversation starter. However, there are certain conditions that might act as an impediment towards its free expression. The main reason being the teeth arrangement or in medical terms malocclusion. It is a condition where the teeth aren't aligned in a proper manner leaving awkward spaces between them or disturbing the bite.

A visible result of misaligned teeth is the smile. People suffering from this may avoid smiling. The remedy is visiting a dentist and possible being recommended to wear braces. Here is the catch. For children it might not matter but for grownups. Wearing metal braces might come as a dampener. It is true that their application results in correcting malocclusions but their clunky look might deter the wearer from opening their mouth too often or avoid wearing them altogether.

Over the years, the refinement in the braces designs has resulted in the development of invisible braces and clear braces. As their name goes, these are structured in a manner that makes them almost invisible or less noticeable. The reasons are their placements within the mouth and the material used in their manufacture. This obvious implication-people cannot make out whether a person they are speaking to is wearing any braces at all. If you want to avoid the hassles of wearing braces, then aligners are the best options.

The difference between an orthodontist and cosmetic dentistry

An orthodontist can straighten your teeth using the latest modern techniques to help get rid of various oral health problems plus giving you the added gift of a beautiful smile. Misaligned teeth not only affect the facial appearance but also can be the breeding ground for many diseases. The reason why one should be scared is that if the problem persists for a considerable amount of time, it may lead to further complications affecting vital organs of the body such as heart. So, dismissing it as just a minor aberration is not a wise option. Timely addressing the condition will avoid any sort of aggravations leaving your health in the pink provided your other organs are working fine!

Cosmetic dentistry is an art that deals with improving the appearance of the teeth by using one or the several methods like whitening, tooth bonding, veneers, crowns, dental implants and more. The basic idea is to improve any kind of deformity resulting due to bad eating habits or accidents or which is since birth. The aforementioned methods are employed in cases when the teeth get discoloured or for filling gaps, broken or chipped tooth or replacing missing tooth.

As is clear from the above explanation what is the difference between an orthodontist and cosmetic dentistry i.e. the latter is for improving visual appearance while the former for functionality. Depending on the condition of individuals a dentist will recommend for the appropriate treatment and diagnostics.

For pushing back the teeth into their ideal positions, the most common method is to wear dental braces. There are different kinds of braces like traditional metal braces, or modern invisible or clear ones that are less noticeable. A further improvement can be seen in the form of aligners. These are nothing but plastic casings made of high grade material and work on the same principle of applying pressure as braces do. They are recommended for their comfort and their unique quality of invisibility i.e. you can wear them and the person standing next to you won't even get any hint whether you are wearing aligners or not.
